Kind Ventures was born from profound loss — and the unwavering belief that even in grief, kindness can light the way forward.

In 2020, within just nine months, Michael Russell endured the unimaginable: the passing of his husband Richard, his brother Scott, his mother-in-law Jeannie, and his beloved mother Carole. That season changed everything. It stripped life down to what truly mattered — love, compassion, and connection.

Through heartbreak came clarity. Michael realized that kindness is not just something we give; it’s something that sustains us. Out of that realization, Kind Ventures emerged — a movement dedicated to turning loss into purpose and compassion into action.

From that foundation grew a family of purpose-driven brands: Kind Mourning, which helps others navigate grief with grace and remembrance; Kind Neighbors, which strengthens bonds of care within communities; and Kind Community, which fosters connection and hope through shared acts of kindness.

For Michael, Kind Ventures is more than a company — it’s a living legacy for those he loved and lost, and a reminder that healing begins when we choose to be kind.
